Volcano National Park
On Monday, Lynne and Peter went to Volcano National Park outside of Hilo--almost 1/2 way around the Big Island from Kona. We went for one hike on the Kilauea Iki Crater trail. What is shown is the lava pool that was created in the 1959 eruption--the pool was 400 feet deep and it is still cooling (the white spots are steam vents). I can only imagine what it looked like during the eruption!
